Research Focus
Viscoplastic behavior of structured fluids. To improve understanding of the rheological properties of fluid systems that demonstrate plastic behaviors, we have developed a portable squeeze flow and extensional rheometer. This novel instrument allows us to gain new insights into complex fluid systems such as foams, emulsions, organoids, gels, and more. In tandem with mechanical measurement, we simultaneously employ confocal microscopy to observe flow and deformation of the fluid and its constituents. We aim to understand the connections from microstructural material interactions to macroscopic fluid behavior.
