Research Focus

As a postdoctoral researcher in the Fuller lab, I specialize in the study of Dry Eye Syndrome (DES), a condition resulting from the dysfunction of the tear film coating the human eye. This syndrome, affecting millions globally, arises when the intricate multilayered tear film – comprising an aqueous layer encased by mucosal and meibomian oily layers – is disrupted. This delicate balance is essential for lubricating the eye, aiding in the removal of debris and microorganisms, and overall ocular health.

My research delves into both experimental and theoretical aspects of tear film drainage and stability, focusing on conditions that mimic both healthy and deficient tear films. Through this work, I aim to contribute significantly to the development of advanced therapeutic and diagnostic methods for treating DES, thereby improving patient outcomes and quality of life.

Outside the lab, I’m an avid beach volleyball player, a keen hiker, and a motorcycle enthusiast. These activities not only provide a balance to my academic pursuits but also keep me connected with nature and community.
